Unfortunately, I don&#8217;t have an image of the final product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The text is based on the English translation of the Annals of Ulster 431-1201 AD as found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucc.ie\/celt\/published\/T100001A\/index.html\">http:\/\/www.ucc.ie\/celt\/published\/T100001A\/index.html<\/a>\u00a0 The particular portions of the Annals used were from AD 992-998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annals are set up as individual entries, and the scroll mirrors this.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The following paragraphs from the annals were used as a basis for the text:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00fanlang son of Dub d\u00e1 Baireann, heir designate of Caisel, and Muirgius son of Conchobor fell by one another in U\u00ed Bri\u00fain Shinna. (U998.1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Conaille and the Mugdorna and the northern Brega made a foray to Glenn Rige and Aed son of Domnall, king of Ailech, came upon them and gave battle to them and defeated them, and the king of Conaille, i.e. Matud\u00e1n ua Cr\u00f3ngilla, and very many others, i.e. 200, were slain there. (U996.3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muirec\u00e1n from Both Domnaig, successor of Patrick, made a visitation in Cen\u00e9l E\u00f3gain and conferred kingly orders on Aed son of Domnall, in the presence of Patrick&#8217;s community, and he <em>also<\/em> made a great visitation of the north of Ireland. (U993.8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A remarkable manifestation on St. Stephen&#8217;s night, the sky appearing blood-red. (U992.4)<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The final scroll text is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twelfth of the Kalends of October AS 49<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caoilfhionn daughter of Lochlann made favors for champions of the East, to ensure good behavior.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caoilfhionn daughter of Lochlann made a foray to Pennsic and organized Heralds\u2019 Point, and the sanity of very many others, i.e. 298, were saved there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brennan King from the East, successor of Kenric, and Caoilfhionn Queen from the East, successor of Avelina, made a visitation in Bergental and conferred arms on Caoilfhionn inghean Lochlainn, in the presence of those attending the Lady of the Rose Tourney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A remarkable manifestation on St. Stephen&#8217;s night, the sky appearing blood-red. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, some updates of the blog are long overdue&#8230;.
